About Katy
I am a current PhD student at Northwestern University studying the lung microbiome (like the gut, but for the lung)!! I received my Bachelor’s from Northeastern University in Cell and Molecular Biology in May of 2023 and am especially familiar with general biology, cell biology, genetics, and microbiology. I also have familiarity with algebra, calculus, and chemistry. I am currently a TA for an undergraduate genetics course where I host office hours and lead test prep sessions. Additionally, I have tutored children in grades 6-12 in biology, chemistry, and AP Biology.

I have been passionate about biology since middle school and think it is truly one of the coolest disciplines ever. I bring this passion and enthusiasm to every tutoring session, empowering students to not only understand the material, but develop more interest and inquisitiveness about it!
When it comes to structure, I am open to covering specific or more general topics that are promoting confusion, specific homework questions or problems, and test prep.
I truly believe that everyone has different needs when it comes to learning and try my best to personalize lessons based on each person’s needs.
