About Lainie
I started tutoring when I was 14 years old at Kumon and have been teaching in some capacity ever since. As a student at MIT, I was a volunteer tutor for local students seeking math help, and was president of a math tutoring outreach club for underserved middle school girls. I was an undergraduate TA for the freshman electrical engineering seminar and taught math (all levels), chemistry, biology, and ACT and SAT prep with Varsity Tutors. As a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon, I am honing my skills to become a professor one day. Teaching is my passion, not just a side gig, and I take my students’ success as seriously as I’ve taken my own!

Hi, my name is Lainie! I have helped students with every STEM subject and have experience with SAT, ACT, AP, GRE and GED test prep. My goal is to explain the material in a way that works for you and tailor my practice to your unique strengths and weaknesses. My sessions are extremely interactive and problem-based - by the end of the session, you won’t just understand how I solved the problem, you’ll be able to do it yourself. I am a “people” person and love interacting with students on a regular basis as they grow, but I’m also more than happy to book intermittent sessions when you need some support.
