About Gabbie
I am a graduate of the University of Malaya, majoring in Performing Arts (Drama) as a director. I am trained in singing and musical theatre, not in a traditional way. I have been learning singing, acting, directing, and Musical Theatre from instructors from Australia, Hong Kong, and Germany. I have been teaching and directing for almost 10 years now, and I trust I can help you out with your voice and performance. I also train instructors to teach (I have my own performing arts academy). I would like to first unlock and activate all your vocal instruments. These instruments you'll use often to sing any songs. We need to get rid of the mindset of always just using the throat to sing, which can be very damaging to your vocal cords and also cause restrictions, preventing you from being able to sing high notes or achieve the results you would like. In my class, you'll be learning a method that I created (play by ear, no worries) after my 10 years of vocal discovery. I am able to teach you how to sing pop and musical songs. (Even pop songs have different ways of singing because all singers have their own technique to sing a specific song). That's why I am here to help you discover your most authentic voice! I always believe in singing without relying on the mic. This is to allow you to familiarize yourself with your own vocals first. The mic sometimes blurs out your voice and creates echo effects in order for you to sound better, but it will make you become lazy to belt out powerful vocals. So yes, we'll start from the core! You can learn from me at my academy or through Zoom (online). My lessons normally run either 30 mins or 45 mins per session. Kindly contact me to discuss more.
