About Sim
I very much enjoy teaching children as I remember struggling in school because I felt no one understood the kind of learner I was. When I met my tutor, they made it a priority to help me understand that mistakes are not bad as long as you learn from them. I also have adapted that concept into my own practice. I currently have a bachelor's degree in psychiatric nursing, and a Master's in behavioural economics. I have been in education my whole life. Throughout this time, I have learnt an array of teaching styles that I wish to share. Often traditional style teaching does not work for every child, and I enjoy navigating this process in order to reach full potential, even if that includes making mistakes and learning from them.

My personal approach to private tutoring is first establishing what kind of learner the student is. Some often are visual, whereas others are auditory. It is my job to then transform the material, they need to learn to a more digestible form for their learning style. From my own research, I know that past papers and reciting knowledge aloud are two of the most effective tools for improving academically. I do not take a stricter approach. However, I am very clear on my expectations from a student. As we go through sessions, I will learn more about the student in terms of their learning style and teach them accordingly as we go along. Weekly progress is monitored on my end at all times. When weaknesses are identified, return to focus more on those. Where strengths are identified, we collectively use that to advantage for other academic material.
