About Helen
I have degrees from two top British universities, The University of Edinburgh (Distinction) and The University of St Andrews (2:!), and seek to share my knowledge with others in helping them achieve their potential. I am passionate about learning and have overcome academic difficulties myself so understand how important it is to pace learning and set challenges at appropriate levels. Away from my academic education, I have experience gained over several years of working with children and young people aged 5-18. This has included those with additional support needs.
I am happy to work with all ages.

First of all I will ascertain my tutee's goals and at what stage they are at already. I will then work collaboratively with them to create suitable tasks to undertake and goals to work towards. With my background in psychology I have a great understanding of learning processes and memory aids / revision methods and am keen to utilise these. One of my favourite teachers in high school was one who would think up novel, often humourous, ways to remember key terms and I aim to employ this effective technique in my own teaching style. Learning should always be fun as well as informative!
