About Ezra
As aforementioned, I am a music and computer science student at Wesleyan University! As a student, manager of the on-campus recording studio, manager of Wesleyan's live sound organization, music technology tutor, I have developed my abilities in Ableton, Max, audio engineering, composition, and teaching! In tandem with classes in production, programming, engineering, and music history, I have completed Music Theory 1 - Post-Tonal theory and a physics course about the acoustical properties of sound.
My lessons are geared towards students from K-12 of any skill level, looking to deepen their understanding of music and music production! While I always remain professional, I try to be as lighthearted as possible to make my lessons fun and engaging. I believe that the only way to get better at creating music is to understand as many aspects of the process as possible. Thus, I aim to inspire curiosity and teach my students how to teach themselves!

Hi! My name is Ezra, and I am a rising senior studying music and computer science at Wesleyan University. My lessons aim to give students a deep understanding of digital musical production in Ableton or programming in Max, and will consequently cover a blend of fundamental production/programming techniques, mixing principles, formal music theory, and compositional skills tailored to the individual needs of my students.
My goal with all of my students is to demystify common barriers to digital music production to give my students the understanding and toolset to realize their creative visions. I believe that a rigorous understanding of production and composition is essential to continuously improve, as students can then make use of a vast number of musical resources, instead of only depending on a few.
While my lessons are structured, they are also designed to be engaging and fun! I try to stay away from lecturing and instead design exercises to engage with my students. Additionally, all of my lessons are highly suited to the individual needs and goals of my students, to ensure that they get the most use out of the lesson as possible!

Ezra tutored me outside of my calculus class and I’ve never had a better math-related interaction! He has a highly rigorous yet understanding teaching style; I felt like he made sure I was thoroughly understanding the topics and not just scraping by. You should see this guy with a graphing calculator!!
Ezra has mentored me in music-related fields for ~3 years, and I’ve consistently appreciated his patience, depth of knowledge, and ability to understandably convey complex information. He is both an excellent teacher and a fun person to be around; learning with him is always very lively! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a kind, competent, passionate, and honest teacher.
I had to take Calc I for my major and was really struggling. I performed poorly in the first midterm so went to Ezra for help. He was really attentive and patient, explaining tricky ideas in a way that was easy to understand. I managed to get As on all subsequent midterms and problem sets, which wouldn’t have been possible without Ezra’s help. He never made me feel bad for finding math difficult and was always very kind. I really recommend Ezra as a tutor, and would definitely go to him again for any math problems in the future!
