About Joseph
Learning an instrument should be a fun, enjoyable experience, so there are no tests you have to pass or ways you need to prove yourself. I'm more than happy to go at your pace and focus on topics that you are interested in. If you feel stuck or stagnant in your development, that's okay! Developing the skills needed to level up your playing takes time, and the brain has a funny way of rewarding us for practice! For me, I can be learning a riff for hours and making slow progress, only to pick up my guitar again the next day and all of a sudden, it just clicks and I'm able to play it much more precisely than the day before!

The main focus of my approach to tutoring is to maintain enthusiasm and psych for playing music! Learning an instrument can be a frustrating process, so I like to emphasise the need to take a step back and remember that we are all learning to play music for enjoyment and our own personal, creative expression. My favourite genres to play are extreme metal and rock which demand precise technique, particularly in regards to timing and rhythm. My lessons typically last one hour and are suited for absolute beginners to intermediates who are looking to level up their playing.
