About Amara
Struggling to move between chords without muting strings is a frustration I faced myself early on. I often find that players focus too much on speed and ignore the maintenance or ear training that builds true musicianship. My MA from McGill helps me explain the theory behind your favorite songs in ways that actually stick. Working with kids and working professionals alike requires a flexible ear.
I rely on those 11 years of teaching to make sure the lesson builds a solid, lasting habit rather than a quick fix. We will just start from where you are right now.

Music serves as the bridge for my students ranging from Grade 3 children to adults settling into life in Canada. After earning my MA in Music Education from McGill, I realized that technical skill means very little without personal expression. I spend my time teaching tuning, improvisation, scales, and acoustic technique to 308 students. Sometimes, the most complex modes feel like simple puzzles once broken down.
