About Christopher
I am an enthusiastic and versatile musician with a passion for teaching which encompasses both classroom teaching and above all, instrumental tuition. I love to engage with my percussion students of both Primary and Secondary school age, adapting my teaching style so that each can enjoy their learning and achieve their full potential
I have worked extensively as a peripatetic tutor at a number of Primary and Secondary schools with a proven ability to engage with students and inspire them to achieve their musical potential.
I studied music composition, production and percussion in London for 3 years, and graduated with a First-Class Degree with Honours, with additional credit awarded for achieving outstanding results across the full spectrum of modules. I am qualified to teach music theory, composition and percussion at all levels and have composed for, and performed across, a huge variety of genres and styles.
I am an experienced and versatile performer, both as a soloist and in ensembles, stage shows, bands and orchestras. I am currently principal percussionist with the BBC Concert Band.
I have current experience of Rock School, Trinity and ABRSM Exam Board grading systems. I have found that my broad musical education and background and my vocal experience have greatly enhanced student success as I do not neglect the underlying theory of music knowledge and aural skills which are essential in addition to a student’s percussion skills in order to achieve the highest attainment levels. I have also worked extensively with pupils to prepare for their GCSE and A Level solo and ensemble performances and for school concert performances

I use my broad musical education, background and experience to not only teach practical skills, but also the underlying theory of music knowledge and aural skills which are essential to supplement a student's percussion skills and achieve the highest attainment levels. I work with students on a one to one basis, tailoring my lessons to meet their individual needs and requirements.
