About Theo
Hi, my name is Theo and I am an Edinburgh-based jazz pianist and music educator. I recently graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a first class degree in music (specialising in jazz piano, composition, and historical music notation techniques).
I am passionate about music education and in 2020 I co-founded the University of Edinburgh Jazz Society. With the society, I was able to share my passion for music and had the opportunity to teach a wide range of musicians.
Some highlights of my career past few years include having my compositions played in the Bo'Ness Silent Film Festival and for the East Anglia Film Archive. As a jazz pianist, I received the runner-up prize in the Tovey Competition (a department-wide performance competition at the University of Edinburgh) and, more recently, the Gwen Clutterbuck scholarship - with which I went to New York City to learn from some of the best jazz educators in the world.
I am interested in teaching people of all ages. I can help you prepare for school or ABRSM practical or theory exams, or we can take a deep-dive into any topic that you want to learn about.
