About Lilly
I had my first contact with music learning when I was 3 years old. I played several instruments as I grew up and when I was 10 years old I decided I wanted guitar as my main instrument. At 11 years of age I got my first electric guitar and wrote my first ever song. That's when songwriting became a passion. I played in my first band when I was 15. When I was 16 I started teaching my 12 year old neighbour. When I was 17 my guitar teacher invited me to team up with him and teach band practice to 11-13 year olds. My background helped me take the path I've taken in teaching - I've been classically trained and I've also studied free improvisation. These antagonistic ways of perceiving music made me come to the conclusion that we are all naturally musicians and there are several ways of developing our skills. I help people communicate more easily and freely through this unconventional language. Music is for anyone and everyone.

I believe people learn in different ways and I aim to listen to the students' needs and difficulties and shape the lesson accordingly. I use dynamic exercises so that the student always feels motivated to learn, even (or especially) when it's difficult. Music is natural to human beings. Babies dance and sing before they walk and speak. That's my starting point to teaching - I will help you or your child become aware of the natural understanding of music and shape it from there. I have experience teaching children and I believe their playfulness and ludic understanding of the world are great tools to learn the language of music from a loving and fun place.

Perfect! Absolute gem, I'd been learning off YouTube and my progress had stalled. Lily broke the things I wanted to learn into bite size chunks and I could already see how to get to where I wanted. Very kind, very supportive. Lily appreciated that I wanted to learn particular songs rather than theory to start with. Will definitely continue to work with her. Could not recommend more.
- Alex has great motivation and impressed me with her natural expression. Having learnt over the course of 6 weeks just with YouTube tutorials, she's developed impressive skills, such as playing and singing simultaneously and smoothly transitioning between chords. If anything, Alex's biggest challenge at the moment is the tendency to put herself down - which we can work on together! Well done on your progress and keep it up! :)Lilly's response :
