About Carly
I am a passionate and experienced violin tutor with a Bachelor’s degree in Music and over ten years of teaching experience. My journey with the violin began at a young age, and through years of study and performance, it became more than just an instrument—it became a lifelong pursuit of expression, discipline, and creativity. Teaching allows me to share that love for music with students at all stages of their learning. Over the past decade, I’ve worked with a wide range of students—from young children holding a violin for the first time to adults returning to music after years away. I take pride in adapting my teaching approach to each individual, making sure lessons are both challenging and encouraging. I focus on building a strong foundation in technique while nurturing each student’s personal musical style and goals. In addition to teaching, I continue to perform regularly in ensemble and solo settings, which keeps me connected to the music world and inspires fresh ideas in my teaching. I draw from my own experience in rehearsals, concerts, and auditions to help students gain practical skills and confidence. Whether preparing for a recital or simply enjoying the process of learning, I aim to bring real-world relevance to every lesson. As a tutor, I value patience, consistency, and a genuine connection with each student. My goal is not only to develop strong violinists but also to help learners discover the joy and depth that music can bring into their lives. I believe every student has a unique voice, and I’m here to help them bring that voice to life through the violin.

My violin lessons are designed to be thoughtful, clear, and tailored to each student’s individual journey—whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced player refining advanced techniques. I work to create a supportive and structured environment where students can progress at their own pace while developing both technical skill and musical confidence. Each lesson is planned with intention and care, based on your goals and learning style.
Fundamental areas such as correct posture, bowing technique, intonation, and note reading are emphasized early on. As students grow, we explore more complex skills like shifting, vibrato, and expressive phrasing. I also include sight-reading and rhythm training to strengthen overall musicianship and performance readiness. Lessons incorporate both traditional exercises and music that keeps students engaged and inspired.
Repertoire is selected based on student level and interest, blending classical pieces with folk, contemporary, or exam-related material when appropriate. I also help students prepare for auditions, orchestra participation, and graded music exams with targeted instruction and regular feedback. Emphasis is placed not just on playing the right notes, but on playing with emotion, intention, and musicality.
With ten years of teaching experience and a Bachelor's degree in Music, I bring both academic knowledge and hands-on expertise to every session. My aim is to help each student find joy and confidence in their playing while steadily building the skills needed to become a strong, expressive violinist. Whether you’re just beginning or advancing further, lessons are designed to make your musical goals both achievable and enjoyable.
