About Amanda
My name is Amanda and I am passionate about English and teaching. When I was in school, I had difficulty with reading comprehension and was hesitant to try challenging things, especially when it came to reading! I had amazing teachers that made me comfortable and inspired my confidence in myself, which eventually translated into me becoming an English teacher. I would love to build a relationship with you or your student that instills confidence around the English language and builds a lifetime love of reading and writing. Having strong foundational literacy and writing skills is truly life-changing and I would love to be apart of you or your student's journey to loving English!

My approach to tutoring is the same as in my classroom! I want every student that is in my care to feel appreciated and welcome to share their ideas and ask questions. I use an asset-base approach that celebrates a child's prior knowledge while maintaining an environment that comfortably pushes them to further their learning.
For English language Development, my lessons center around the four pillars of learning English: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Each of these four elements is incorporated into each lesson/ tutoring session in a scaffolded manner that engages students and makes for a fun learning environment!
