About Mimi

Hi, I’m Amy! I’m a dancer currently studying for a BA (Hons) in Dance and Musical Theatre. Alongside my dance training, I’m passionate about education and helping young people build confidence in their learning.
I tutor GCSE English, following the AQA specification and creating tailored lessons and PowerPoints to suit each student’s individual needs. I focus on breaking down challenging topics, exploring texts in greater depth and developing essential exam skills, including essay writing, textual analysis and understanding language techniques.

About the lesson

I closely follow the AQA specification, tailoring my lessons and PowerPoints to each student's individual needs and learning style. I aim to explore topics in greater depth, providing thorough explanations of areas that may be overlooked or not fully covered in school. Having worked with children with special educational needs (SEN), alongside experience teaching dance and acting to children aged 2–15, I understand the importance of patience, adaptability and encouragement. My teaching approach focuses on understanding each student's strengths, identifying areas for improvement and adapting my resources and teaching methods to help them build confidence, strengthen their knowledge and reach their full potential. I also encourage students to ask questions, revisit challenging topics and develop a deeper understanding of the subject, rather than simply memorising information.
