About Collen

I am a qualified math and science teacher with over 3 years of experience teaching high school students. I have taught in both public and private schools and have worked with students of all abilities. Over the years, I have helped hundreds of students improve their math skills and prepare for University entrance exams like the NBT. I believe that every student has the ability to succeed in math, and I work hard to create a supportive and engaging learning environment. I use real-world examples and hands-on activities to help students connect math concepts to their daily lives. I am available for tutoring sessions after school and on weekends and can also offer online tutoring for students who prefer to learn remotely. If you or your child is struggling with math and could use some extra help, please don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to helping you achieve your math goals

About the lesson

I work at the pace of the student, to avoid any confusion and misunderstanding. I admit that I do enjoy being the "sage on the stage" in my classroom, but I realize that this does little to engage my students in deep thinking. I want my students to be at the center of their learning too.

Bantu is a very intelligent individual, but simultaneously lackadaisical and hard to start. I believe he can reach higher heights, but that's if he also puts in the hard work in his free time to reach this high potential. Practise, practise and more practise of maths sums will mould him into that A student I desire him to be.

If there's ever a tutor who thinks and processes outside the proverbial box, it is Collen. In his approach to teaching, he is incredibly innovative to establish high standards and encourage people not only to reach these standards but also to exceed them.

Collen is clear from the beginning of the detailed preparation and readiness to work tirelessly. In July, Collen and I met to clarify their duties and access resources. A lot of preparation was already in place before the school started, so time for debate and approval was available. In lessons, several media were employed and activities took on many shapes that allowed students with different skills. High-level tactics of inquiry were used to widen the thinking of the students. Collen often used his teaching experiences as chances to grow and improve skills as well as to encourage students to reflect on their learning.

I know this person very well, I've been with him since 2017 in our 1st year of Varsity. What he would do every time is before we wrote all our semester tests, almost 12 to 15 students would come to him for the content, mostly girls though. They would spend the whole of Saturday and Sunday preparing for the semester tests. He loved helping them. These people always produced marks after being helped by Collen.

The following year, he then worked as a tutor officially for the department of Microbiology and Biochemistry.

So I trust him, and I know he's the best man for the job.
