About John Oluwasetemi
Hi! I’m a scientist and educator currently studying for my MSc in Infection Biology at the University of Glasgow, following my degree in Biomedical Science.
I’m here because I genuinely love biology, and I know exactly how it feels to stare at a complex diagram or a tricky exam question and feel stuck. My passion for teaching started back in sixth form when I began helping younger students find their footing in science. I realised then that biology isn't just a list of facts to memorise—it’s a fascinating story of how life works, and I want to help you tell it.
Because I work in research, I bring a high level of professional expertise and "real-world" science into our lessons. You aren’t just getting a tutor; you’re getting someone who uses this knowledge every day.
My goal is to create a professional yet relaxed space where you feel confident asking "why?" and "how?" until the concepts finally click

I am a University of Glasgow MSc Infection Biology student and a Biomedical Science graduate from the University of Bradford, offering expert AQA GCSE Biology tuition in Glasgow and online. My teaching philosophy is built on the belief that biology is best learnt through understanding systems, not just memorising facts.
My methodology centres on active recall and dual coding. By combining verbal explanations with bespoke visual organisers and diagrams, I help students build stronger mental models of complex biological processes. I challenge students with "blurting" sessions and frequent low-stakes testing to ensure long-term retention. I specialise in breaking down difficult AQA topics—such as molecular genetics and immunology—into digestible concepts using real-world research examples.
My passion for teaching began during sixth form, where I tutored younger students in Science. This experience taught me how to adapt my communication style for 14–16-year-olds, ensuring they feel both supported and challenged. I understand the specific rigour of the AQA curriculum and focus heavily on exam technique, coaching students on how to interpret specific command words and structure their answers to satisfy strict marking schemes.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, providing the perfect balance of theory and application. Whether we meet in person in Glasgow or via a digital classroom, my goal is to build student confidence and transform "difficult" topics into areas of strength.
