About Jamie
My experience in The Deaf Community combined with my experience as a hard-of-hearing person has given me a unique perspective on hearing loss. Sign Language has been a part of my life since I was that curious young girl in the reference section of my local library and it has woven its way into who I am as a person in so many ways ever since. I learned ASL formally in college and began working as an Interpreter in 1997. Over the years, I have worked in several settings including my favorite setting entertainment for places such as Disney China, Steppenwolf Theater, The Goodman Theater, The Hubbard Street Dancers, and more! I've also worked for several Universities, hospitals and businesses all over Chicagoland. Interpreting has taken me to so many interesting places!

Our time together will help you learn how to communicate in Sign Language in a way that fits your individual needs. After you tell me your reasons for learning, I can customize our lessons to what you need. Whether you are taking a class and need extra practice, or you want to learn how to introduce yourself, have basic conversations, or learn to sign your favorite song, we can use our time together to learn whatever Sign Language you are interested in. My goal is for you to meet whatever your Sign Language goals are and have so much fun doing it! Lessons with me can be for kids, families, students, or even people who have deaf coworkers and want to begin learning the basics. I have also taught Baby Signs Workshops for Parents who want to teach their babies how to sign as early as 6 months old. Whatever we do, I like to incorporate storytelling, games and lots of fun!
