About Gabrielle
Hello, my name is Gabrielle. I have been living in the UK for the past two years, during which I completed my postgraduate degree at the University of Southampton. After graduation, I began working for a Fortune Global 500 company, where I continue to develop my professional skills in an international environment. As a native speaker of both Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese, I bring authenticity and cultural depth to my lessons. My experience of studying and working in the UK allows me to understand the challenges learners face when mastering a new language, and I adapt my teaching to make the process clear, supportive, and enjoyable. I welcome learners of all levels, from beginners to advanced students, and I design lessons to suit individual goals—whether that is conversational fluency, cultural understanding, or academic support. My Approach to Tutoring As a native speaker of both Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese, I create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can feel confident practising a new language. I focus on real-life communication, pronunciation, and cultural context so learners can use the language naturally. Teaching Techniques and Methodology I tailor each lesson to the needs of the student, whether that’s conversational practice, grammar, vocabulary, or cultural understanding. For beginners, I start with practical phrases and listening exercises, while more advanced learners can work on fluency, idioms, and cultural nuances. My approach is interactive, patient, and encouraging. Lesson Structure A typical lesson lasts around 60 minutes. This gives enough time for new material, practice, and feedback without being overwhelming. Longer or shorter sessions can be arranged if needed. Qualifications and Experience I am fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, and I have experience using both languages in academic and everyday contexts. My background in international study and living in the UK allows me to explain complex ideas clearly and bridge cultural differences effectively.
