About Zara
Fáilte! My name is Zara McGinley. I am a native Irish speaker from the Donegal Gaeltacht where Irish is the main language spoken in my home. I attended an all Irish speaking primary school. I was awarded a H1 in Irish (Higher Level) in both my LC and JC. I was awarded the Trinity College Entrance Scholarship for Excellence in the Leaving Cert and am currently studying Biomedical Science in Trinity. I was selected to be a part of the Irish residency scheme in Trinity, where Irish is naturally spoken amongst us daily. I was elected onto the Irish Language Committee in Trinity this year where I strive to promote Irish throughout the college. I have been awarded a Grade 6 in Traditional Irish Music on the piano accordion and a Grade 8 in Irish Dancing.
I offer structured lessons tailored to the strengths, weaknesses, and exam goals of each student - from Primary School to Leaving Cert. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to improve fluency, I can provide strategies to help you reach your full potential. My approach is supportive and focused on real progress. I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel at ease speaking and improving their Irish skills. I provide one-hour private lessons for students at all levels, from primary school to 6th year. My teaching is tailored to each student’s individual needs, ensuring targeted and effective progress. The first lesson includes an assessment to identify strengths and areas for improvement. I focus on developing confidence in both written and spoken Irish. For Leaving Certificate students, I cover prescribed material, poetry, exam structure, and place particular emphasis on oral preparation.
