About Cristoforo
I hold a Certificate 4 in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), but already before earning this qualification I was a seasoned Italian language teacher. I have a solid background in teaching, acquired through delivering private Italian lessons and university tutoring sessions for more than 10 years.

The sessions I am offering here are different from the classic language teaching approach; I offer medium to advanced fluency students the opportunity to have an up to 90 minutes conversation with me on topics of our choice. The format is flexible. These conversation sessions could stem from review of a text, news item or even audio/video (internet) material in Italian - hence practising also reading and comprehension skills and/or listening and comprehension skills. As an alternative, these sessions could be entirely based on a conversation topic chosen on the day (no source materials) or improvised. The sessions have the aim to strengthen already existing conversation, listening, reading (if desired) and comprehension skills in Italian and taking them to the next level. Areas of focus and improvement could also include: sentence structure, use of idioms, pronunciation, listening and understanding of current Italian spoken at natural speed (not from materials made for language classes), understanding of cultural and historical references used by Italians, appropriateness of register when speaking to different ranks of people in Italian society (e.g. of the formal "Lei") and other advanced aspects of learning Italian language and culture of your choice. The format of my sessions is flexible and customizable and can be adapted for: high school students, university students, professionals wanting to spend some time in Italy, travellers intending to spend extended periods of life in Italy.

Details
Generally speaking, if you live within 45 minutes worth of public transport travel from my home, you will pay $65 per hour for my lesson - no surcharge. If traveling to an agreed meeting place (e.g. your home, or a public place) will take me more than 45 minutes via public transport, a flat fee of $10 applies on top of the total price of the lesson (billed hourly) I have with you. Recommended time lesson is at least 1 hour. In my experience 90 minute lessons give the best results (especially for beginner/intermediate levels).
Two hour lessons are also possible at the discounted price of $120 but only for sessions with 2 or 3 learners!
