About Andrea
I have been giving informal lessons for two years, having started on a rigorous workload two years ago when I began to tutor peers who needed help with Spanish. It progressed to the point where I was able to become a teaching assistant at the local high school I was attending in Germany to both the English and Spanish classes. The average classroom size was roughly sixteen kids ranging from twelve to sixteen-years-old. Many of my pupils have credited their success in their Spanish courses and acquisition of Spanish proficiency certificates to my help!

I am a Temple University student currently majoring in English. Before moving to Philadelphia, I lived in Puerto Rico and spent a year abroad in Germany (where I became fluent in German). I have had experience tutoring children as young as six in the subjects of English and Spanish at a bilingual school. Afterwards, I was able to be a teaching assistant in Germany to a seventh and tenth grade English class. Additionally, I tutored various tenth graders in both Spanish and English as part of an after-school initiative. I have a very hands-on approach. I like to get to know the person and modify my teaching methods to their requirements as I have learned that learning languages is not a "one size fits all". I also enforce a lot of reading and critical thinking. Oftentimes you will find yourself reading a small passage and translating or interpreting it to me. The difficulty of this passage will vary according to your level of proficiency. If you don't find yourself ready to analyze reading passages, it is no problem in the least. I personally like to start with simple sentences and verb conjugations when learning a new languages and have adopted it into my teaching methods.
