About Sofia
I am an 18-year-old Colombian immigrant and an upcoming Biomedical Engineering student. Having moved to the United States just two years ago, I speak native Spanish and completely understand how frustrating and overwhelming it can be to adapt to a new country and master a new language.
Because of my own journey, I have a lot of patience and will adapt my strategy to each student's unique pace. Academically, I love chess, math, books, and I took Honors Spanish in high school, which helped me master advanced grammar and writing. I want my students to know that they are not just getting a tutor, but a peer who understands the struggle of learning and is truly determined to help them succeed step-by-step.

I offer Spanish tutoring and homework support tailored completely to the student's pace. My methodology is 100% asynchronous and written: I work exclusively through chat, text messages, and document review, without the need for video or voice calls.
A typical session starts when the student shares the text, exercise, or grammar doubt they are struggling with. I perform a detailed analysis and send back a step-by-step guide, explaining the errors, the correct structure, and the logic behind each solution in a simple way. We can then use the chat to clear up any remaining questions.
What sets me apart is my practical and empathetic approach. As an honor student, I understand how frustrating it can be to face a difficult concept, so I break down information logically. My lessons are for basic and intermediate students, or anyone who wants to practice their Spanish written fluency and comprehension comfortably and without the pressure of a camera.
