About David
I grew up and completed my education in Tui, a small town bordering Spain and Portugal, before returning to the UK to study Media and Communications at Loughborough University.
Living in both Spain and the UK has given me a first-hand understanding of the cultural differences and common challenges English speakers face when learning it.
Professionally, I work in communications within elite sport, where I've interviewed athletes in Spanish and used the language daily in a professional environment.
Alongside English, I also speak Galician, French, Portuguese and conversational Italian, so I know how challenging (but also exciting) learning a new language can be.
Although I am new to tutoring professionally, communication has always been at the heart of what I do. I know how daunting speaking a new language can feel, which is why I focus on building confidence as well as improving accuracy. My goal is to help students enjoy learning Spanish and leave every lesson feeling more comfortable using it in everyday situations.

From my experience learning French and Portuguese, the best way to learn a language (while vocabulary and grammar are, of course, important!) is by using it in real situations.
My lessons are relaxed, practical and tailored to each student's goals, whether that's preparing for exams, improving confidence in conversation, travelling, relocating to Spain or developing professional language skills.
A typical lesson lasts one hour, although shorter or longer sessions can be arranged depending on individual needs. Lessons usually combine conversation, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and practical exercises, with the balance adapted to each student's level and objectives. I like to use real-life examples from current events, topics in the news and areas of personal interest to keep lessons engaging and relevant.
My aim is to create a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes (that's how you learn!), asking questions and progressing at their own pace.
Lessons are suitable for beginners through to advanced learners, including school and university students, adults learning for work or travel, and anyone who wants to develop greater confidence speaking Spanish in everyday situations.
