About Diego

Hi! My name is Diego, and I'm currently studying Finance with a minor in Economics at the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO).

Spanish is my mother tongue, and I spent 7 years living in Mexico, where I developed a strong connection to the language and culture. Being fluent in Spanish and English allows me to explain concepts clearly and help students feel comfortable as they learn.

I've also worked in the service industry, which has taught me the importance of patience, communication, and adapting to different people's needs. I bring that same approach to tutoring by making sure every student feels supported and confident throughout their learning experience.

I understand that learning a new language can feel intimidating, especially when it comes to speaking out loud or making mistakes. That's why I focus on creating a relaxed, encouraging environment where students can ask questions, practice freely, and improve at their own pace.

Whether you're starting from scratch, need extra help with a Spanish course, or want to become more conversational, I'm happy to adapt my lessons to your goals.

As a native Spanish speaker who lived in Mexico for 7 years and is currently studying at UBCO, I want to help students learn Spanish in a fun, relaxed, and practical way!

My teaching approach focuses on making students feel comfortable speaking Spanish, regardless of their level. I believe the best way to learn a language is through real conversations, consistent practice, and lessons adapted to each student's needs and goals.

My teaching methodology:

Conversation practice: Building confidence through everyday conversations and real-life situations.

Grammar and vocabulary: Explaining concepts in a simple, easy-to-understand way with practical examples.

Personalized lessons: Adapting each session to your level, learning style, and goals.

Mexican Spanish and culture: Teaching natural expressions, pronunciation, and cultural insights that you might not learn in a textbook.

What a typical lesson looks like:

We start with a quick conversation or review of what we covered previously. Then, we focus on a specific topic, such as grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, or conversational skills. We finish with interactive exercises or conversation practice to help you apply what you've learned.
