  • 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I was born in Spain, so Spanish is my native language and part of my identity and culture. My interest in teaching, however, was shaped by inspiring teachers who showed me how powerful language learning can be.
I am also proficient in English, which allows me to explain concepts clearly and support learners effectively. I also learnt English from scratch, which has given me a real understanding of what it takes to learn a language and strongly influences the way I teach.
  • 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

One person who I think represents the richness of Spanish language and culture is Miguel de Cervantes. His work had a huge influence on Spanish literature and culture, and Don Quixote is still considered one of the greatest literary works ever written. His creativity, humour, and understanding of human nature continue to inspire Spanish speakers around the world.
  • 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

One thing I particularly love about Spanish is how warm and expressive it is. I especially like the phrase “¡No pasa nada!”, which literally means “nothing happens,” but is used to say “don’t worry” or “it’s okay.” It reflects a relaxed and positive attitude that is very present in many Spanish-speaking cultures. I also enjoy the importance placed on family meals and social gatherings, where conversation and connection are central.
  • 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Spanish is a truly global language, spoken by over 500 million people worldwide, and it is the second most spoken native language in the world. It is also an official language in around 20 countries. Because of this, speaking Spanish really does open doors across the world, allowing you to connect with a huge range of people, cultures, and opportunities. For me, that global connection is what makes it so powerful and meaningful to teach.
  • 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

I believe one of the main difficulties in learning Spanish is building confidence when speaking. Many students worry about making mistakes, especially with pronunciation or verb conjugations. However, the key to progress is regular practice in a supportive environment. Interactive lessons, personalised materials, repetition, and real-life conversation practice help students become more comfortable and fluent over time. I always encourage my students to see mistakes as part of the learning process.
  • 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

I always remember learning English as something enjoyable and practical, rather than just academic. One small but meaningful experience was during my first summer job, when I had a friend at school whose parents were English. Whenever I needed useful phrases for work, I would ask him how to say them in English and then try to use them straight away in real situations. What started as occasional questions quickly became a daily habit throughout that summer. Looking back, it was a simple routine, but it really helped me see how quickly you can improve when you apply language in real life and stay curious every day.
  • 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Travel has helped me appreciate the diversity of the Spanish language even more. Visiting different regions and interacting with people from various Spanish-speaking backgrounds showed me how accents, vocabulary, and traditions can vary from place to place. It deepened my cultural understanding and made me more aware of the importance of teaching authentic, real-world Spanish. These experiences now help me introduce students not only to the language itself, but also to the cultures behind it.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in language?

What makes me a Superprof is my combination of native fluency, over 10 years of teaching experience, and a highly personalised approach to learning. I tailor every lesson to the student’s needs and provide bespoke materials and ongoing support to ensure continuous progress.

In addition, my proficiency in English allows me to explain Spanish clearly and effectively. Having learned English from scratch myself, I deeply understand the challenges of language learning, including confidence barriers and fear of mistakes. This helps me create a patient, supportive environment where students feel comfortable and progress quickly.
