I originally attended one of her classes through Queen's University. After the class finished I was able to take private classes with her to help me achieve Instituto de Cervantes Intermediate exam.
She targeted the classes to suit my needs.

I have been learning Spanish with Sol for about 15 years. Sol's attitude is very professional. She goes beyond the textbook to prepare classes covering many topics using a variety of resources. Classes are very enjoyable and we have plenty of laughter as we learn.
After living here for many years, Sol's English vocabulary is excellent and she often explains English grammar to us. She is very helpful with boundless energy and patience.  She always encourages us and I am never made uncomfortable if I make a mistake.
Sol first taught me in a classroom at Queen's Open Learning. Some courses used traditional textbooks chosen by QUB while another discussed Spanish language cinema. Poetry and songs add another source, and we learn about life and culture in Spanish speaking countries. We appreciated that she prepared notes in class and emailed them to everyone.
I now attend classes via Zoom and receive notes through Google Classroom, which is also used for homeworks. Although some of us travel a lot, it is easy to attend class with the power of the internet. Many students return for further study in a happy environment with a dedicated teacher. Such loyalty is a great recommendation in itself.

Maria Sol is an excellent teacher. She truly understands languages and how they work. Spanish grammar is not easy at times but she manages to convey her technical knowledge of the language in a way that is easy to understand. That is because she is not just a native speaker, she is a good linguist and a good teacher too. Her English is perfect so she can explain to us in our language when necessary. She is very patient, even when she has corrected the same mistake many times. She also makes the classes fun. We start each class like a group of friends updating each other on what we've been doing and she skillfully starts to weave in that week's lesson without us noticing. Highly recommended.

I have been studying Spanish with Maria Sol since 2019. She is an exceptionally talented teacher, a native speaker who is well organised and covers all the necessary grammar but whose English is also perfect. . She has a very pleasant personality and her charismatic personality makes learning fun. Although we meet on Zoom we get to know the other students as she deals competently with the technology. She also organises actual catch-up meetings once a term. I highly recommend learning with Sol.

Wanting to revive my very rusty Spanish I have been attending Sol’s classes for the past 8 years or so. She is an excellent teacher - always encouraging , very patient and able to explain phrases and grammar clearly and simply.

I have attended weekly Spanish language classes with Maria Sol for several years, first in classroom format as part of the Open Learning program offered by The Queen’s University, Belfast and more recently remotely via Google classroom and zoom, which classes she offers in a private capacity.

Through Maria Sol’s teaching I have managed to progress from complete beginner, never having studied Spanish at school, to a level where I can understand and converse in Spanish in rural Spain (I’m not referring here to the Costas where tourists get by with ‘gracias’ and ‘por favor’).

Maria Sol’s classes are always engaging and fun. In her teaching she uses topical, literary and cultural themes, so her classes are always interesting. The classes I attend are small and there is always time for discussion (in Spanish of course) , as well as reading , writing, listening and understanding. Grammar concepts are explained, tested (both in class and in homework) and corrected.

Material covered in class is routinely posted on Google classroom, where homework is marked and corrected. So each student has a complete historic record of the classes and their work.

In my experience Maria Sol is a very experienced and professional Language tutor. She is friendly and approachable and can adjust her teaching to suit the level of her students, even in a class where individual proficiency is mixed.

I have attended Spanish lessons delivered by Maria Sol over the last ten years or so. These have been both face to face and on the Zoom platform. I have attended classes with some other Tutors in the past and can state, without reservation, that Maria Sol is the best teacher of Spanish that I have encountered. She is fluent in English, her lessons are well prepared and imaginative and she has a good sense of humour which contributes to making her lessons a delight in which to participate. She is a native Spanish speaker and has a thorough knowledge of both English and Spanish grammar, which is essential to the learner when undertaking the study of Spanish. She is a very engaging and encouraging Tutor and I can give her the highest recommendation as a teacher of Spanish from Beginner to Advanced levels.

I have been going to Sol’s classes for about 9 years and have come from knowing a handful of words to feeling quite confident in my understanding and expression of Spanish. Sol ís an excellent teacher and I’ve been reluctant to change to another as it’s hard to imagine anyone better at helping an older learner get to grips with the language. Her classes are always interesting and she seems to find subjects that everyone wants to talk about. They are very inclusive so no one is left out. Her explanations of grammatical points are clear and well illustrated with examples which the class work through. Sol is always encouraging and never makes you feel foolish for repeating the same mistakes over and again or for asking a question that has already been answered. There’s always lots of variety within the class so poems, sayings, currently affairs, fables, customs and anecdotes are included adding to the fun.

I have been studying Spanish with Sol for many years, first in a taught class with other students and more recently over zoom. Both experiences have been first class as she is so well prepared to give all her students an opportunity to participate and to expand our vocabulary, grammar and conversation skills. We have access to class notes after the lessons and we are encouraged to do the homework exercises in order to cement the topic studied.

Sol is excellent. Very friendly and personable. Her approach to write as we speak and then send a transcript really helps.Sol is very popular and has many students.

Maria Sol is an excellent teacher and I love her classes. Every week she challenges us to improve our Spanish . Her classes are so interesting and we are continually learning new ways of speaking Spanish. Her teaching of the use of grammar, especially the subjunctive, is second to none. I look forward to her class every week.

Post retirement i decided to try to resurrect my Spanish from a life time ago. Quite by chance i went to a course that Sol taught; that was about 7 years ago! I am still part of a small group who continues to have a weekly on-line class with Sol. She is a wonderful language teacher, very patient, pitches everything at just the right level and has improved my Spanish so much (not to mention my knowledge of wider Spanish/Latino culture). Also, i do not remember laughing as much when i first studied Spanish in school. I would recomend Sol unreservedly.
