About Tana
My name is Tana Ajiki.
Unlike many other children my age, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Teaching others brings me joy because it allows me to share my knowledge. Yoruba is a choice subject, naturally, because I am a native of Yoruba Land, and it is the language that I majored in at the University.
Although I was born and raised by Yoruba parents, I did not speak the language fluently until my late teens. This is proof that anybody can learn a language at any age, which influences my teaching approach.
Over the years, I have homeschooled students from K-12 and taught adults, each one different from the other. I ensure that I develop a cordial relationship with my students, understand their learning styles, and create a relaxed learning atmosphere.
I currently teach Yoruba at a USA university.

As a Linguist, I use the descriptive approach; that is, I not only tell you the "what", I also show you the "why". I deploy learner-centric styles by focusing on the learner's approach to and preferred style of learning. Typically, a lesson lasts between 45-90 minutes, depending on the student's attention span. My students range from teenagers to adults.
