About Ryse
I’m someone who loves learning and thinking deeply about the world around me. Outside of English, I enjoy studying psychology and business studies, as both subjects push me to analyze, question, and understand different perspectives. I’m especially drawn to media and stories that encourage critical thinking and reflection, due to my belief that exploring ideas through discussion helps us grow as both students and people. As someone close in age to my students, I understand the challenges of balancing schoolwork, motivation, and confidence. I want to create a space where students can learn at their own pace and in their own way, adapting their unique learning style rather than changing who they are. My goal is to help every student reach their full potential while still keeping their passion and individuality at the center of their learning.

While tutoring may be a new experience to me, English is a topic of which I am extremely familiar with, know deeply, and care about passionately.
My English lessons are designed to help students not only improve their grades but also genuinely enjoy studying literature and language. I can work with students from Years 9–12, focusing on building strong essay-writing, analytical, and critical thinking skills that carry through NCEA and Cambridge English. I'm confident guiding students through poetry, prose, and film analysis helping them explore deeper meanings, symbolism, and language techniques.
In our sessions, we’ll focus on interpreting texts, developing clear and persuasive arguments, and refining essay structures to meet exam standards. I also encourage creative thinking such as: questioning small details, forming original interpretations, and connecting themes across different works.
Whether you want to strengthen your writing, prepare for internal assessments, or develop deeper literary analysis, I’ll support you with patience, practical strategies, and a genuine enthusiasm for English.
