About Holly
With a BSc in Neuroscience and a Master's degree in Psychology of Education, I am passionate about biology as well as the process of learning. I have been working in the medical communications industry for the last few years and currently pivoting into education. Having tutored numerous students prior to their GCSE exams, I understand no two students are the same and am dedicated to finding creative ways of how to maximise students' learning. Exams can be stressful and I am determined to build my students' confidence and relieve some of that stress!

I'll always ensure my knowledge and understanding of the subject area is to a high level before each session. I will also refer back to the syllabus for the specific exam board so all aspects of the subject area, which could be tested in the exam, will be covered in the session. The sessions will begin by finding out how much the student already knows about the subject area before tackling the content at a pace which suits the student. I'll aim to tailor the sessions to the individual student, i.e. if the student learns best through visual aids, I'll put a greater emphasis on diagrams in the session. Practice exam questions will be asked throughout so areas of confusion can be cleared up within the session. I think this is a good way of keeping the student engaged and enables them to track their own progress. The buzz of getting a right answer is also the best way to maintain motivation! As well as helping students with content knowledge and exam technique, the thing that I think is just as important is building confidence. I will always strive for the student to feel significantly happier and secure with the subject area after each session; hopefully making the prospect of exams less terrifying!
