About Nathaniel
I started playing chess in 5th grade against a chess player. But I didn't know anything about the game and was just aimlessly making moves. I kept losing over and over, but I didn't give up; I was determined to win. Without anyone teaching me and not knowing about chess videos, it was a hard and frustrating process. I eventually beat the bot and was introduced to chess.com. There I climbed the rating ladder from 500 to 1800 Elo points. Even though I had a lot of fun reaching there, I could've been at a much higher level if I had someone to guide me. I'm becoming a tutor to help you grow while keeping it fun and engaging. My goal as chess tutor is to make learning chess simple, enjoyable, and easy to understand. I focus on building strong fundamentals, including piece movement, opening principles, tactics, and basic endgames.
As a young and active chess player, I can relate well to newer players and explain ideas in a way that is easy to follow. I aim to create a friendly and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
