About Christina

I am a 550-hour Certified Yoga Teacher, having done 3 separate teacher trainings that are Yoga Alliance Certified. I have over 1000 hours of experience over 5 years. I have taught many beginners from scratch to develop a yoga practice with a strong, safe, and effective foundation. I have also helped many intermediates and advanced improve their practice by offering further insight towards alignment and modifications to help them reach their goals. Specializing in: Hatha/Gentle Yoga/Iyengar that is Alignment based Yin Yoga (deep stretching and relaxation) - taught under Bernie Clark Vinyasa (active classes) - taught under Briohny Smyth. I cater mainly to beginners and intermediate levels who want to familiarize themselves with yoga and build their practice in a safe environment. I understand the importance of creating balance in the body. I also have a background in Holistic Nutrition and Bio-Energetic Healing so I can also offer nutritional advice to help you achieve your wellness goals.

I help make yoga accessible so that anyone, even the most inflexible, can do yoga. I teach at your pace according to your physical abilities and goals (no matter your level of flexibility or strength). I have a gentle approach that will allow you to feel comfortable so you can enjoy your experience and learn without feeling overwhelmed! My teaching methods are based on building a strong foundation to allow improvement at a faster pace and ensuring to avoid injury. I understand the importance of modifying poses to suit the body, not modifying the body to suit the pose. I cater mainly to beginners and intermediate levels, but even advanced levels can benefit from my teachings to help improve flexibility and strength at a faster rate. I use many props in my own practice and while teaching if necessary. If you are looking to learn yoga through a virtual course, message me for details about Yoga Student Training Courses. • 1) When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I developed a strong interest in Yoga when I was studying in University. I initially started practicing yoga to improve my mental heath and to get into better physical shape. I practiced yoga on and off in group classes for about 5 years before deciding I wanted to complete my Teacher Training in India to deepen my self practice and learn how to practice multiple styles of yoga. After graduating and learning how to practice and teach Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Yin and Aerial Yoga, I knew that I had to share the practice of yoga with others because it was so beneficial to me in so many different ways.
  • 2) What makes you passionate about your subject?

I am passionate about yoga because there are so many different beneficial aspects of it to practice and teach. The movement aspect is the most obvious, which can be great as a way to move your body, exercise and stretch. It can also be healing for aches and pains by strengthening and stretching different areas and muscles of the body. The mental aspect is truly interesting because yoga teaches us how to be mindful and present, but also how to let go and relax. When adding Pranayama and Meditation, it can be an incredibly powerful experience. The spiritual aspect help us cultivate a deeper and more positive connection with our body, our breath and our spirit.
  • 3) What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

My knowledge, experience and positivity that I bring to all of my classes make me a "Superprof." I've been teaching since 2017 and what I love most about teaching is that I get to really cater my sessions to help my students successfully meet their needs and goals. I love teaching proper functional alignment because, as an Alignment Expert, it really allows my students to get the most benefits from the practice and minimize susceptibility to injuries, providing them with a safe yet effective foundational practice. It also encourages them to connect with their bodies on a deeper level and increase their body and breath awareness. I have worked with student of all walks of life, including business owners and entrepreneurs, Olympic Athletes, Medical Doctors, Chiropractors and Physiotherapists. If my students are looking to simply move their bodies or gain more flexibility, I can guide them to get the maximum benefits from each pose. If they are dealing with a back pain or other issues where yoga has been recommended, I can tailor the poses to that work through the areas of their bodies that need it the most. If they want to reduce their stress, I can provide them with a practice that will allow them to be more present and also provide them with techniques (including Pranayama and Meditation) that they can use in their day-to-day lives.
  • 4) Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

Briohny Smyth is a very well-known yoga teacher that I inspires me and that I look up to. I have taken one of her trainings and she is, by far, my favourite yoga instructor in the world. She is so knowledgeable and experienced, yet also down to earth and real. Her teachings have helped my personal practice and helped me become a better instructor.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

My keys to success are getting to know the needs of my students, assessing their abilities and tailoring my classes to them. I like to teach at a pace that is comfortable for my students and then, if they are open it, challenge them in a way that is fun. I never want to go too fast or do so much that my students feel like they can't keep up, or go too slow or do too little they don't feel like they are engaged or improving. Another key to my success is to explain each pose clearly and concisely so that my students can follow along verbally and do not have to always look at me for demonstration. Because of my knowledge and experience, I am able to teach yoga to any level from complete beginners who want to start learning yoga with a strong and solid foundation to to advanced yogis who are looking to deepen their practice.
