About Bob

I'm a very friendly 62-year-old gamer, living close to Boston, MA, where I grew up. I've worked in architectural printing and have been in management in the movie theater industry. I've also worked as a residential support / caregiver for special needs encompassing Down syndrome, autism, and other cognitive or neurodevelopmental conditions. - - Informally, I love D&D, movies, frisbee, video games, and of course... Chess!

About the lesson

My father taught me how to play chess when I was five years old. I've taught many people already. I will enjoy teaching you, while we build an instant friendship. With unlimited patience, I will quiet any doubts you have about your capability to become a proficient chess player. - For anyone who knows nothing about chess to novice players who want to improve their skill.

Excellent! Bob is kind, patient, and brought great energy to the lesson. You can tell he loves teaching, and that makes the time fly. I’d recommend him to anyone starting out who wants a warm, encouraging chess tutor.

Bob's response
Nahel had a strong desire to get the most he could out of our time together. I assessed he already had intermediate chess skill and recognized some of where he could improve. I admired his humility in assessing his own strengths and weaknesses.
