About Julia
Hi! I'm Julia, an enthusiastic and culturally responsive ESL teacher with over four years of experience helping students from around the world develop their English skills and confidence. I’ve taught learners of all ages—from elementary school newcomers to adult professionals—both in the U.S. and abroad, including in China and South Korea. I hold a B.A. in East Asian Studies from NYU and have studied languages myself in immersive environments, so I truly understand what it's like to learn a new language and adjust to a different culture. My approach is warm, encouraging, and student-centered. I focus on real communication, building a strong foundation in English while respecting and valuing each student’s background. Currently, I teach K–12 multilingual learners at a Title I charter school in New Jersey, where I design customized lessons that support speaking, listening, reading, and writing development. Outside the classroom, I offer private ESL tutoring tailored to your specific goals—whether you're preparing for a test, building academic English, or simply trying to speak with more fluency and ease in everyday life.

As an experienced ESOL instructor with over four years of teaching learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, I design my ESL lessons to be student-centered, practical, and culturally responsive. I tailor each session to the learner's goals, whether it’s improving conversation skills, mastering academic English, or preparing for exams like ACCESS or WIDA.
Each session begins with a short warm-up and review. We then focus on a language goal (e.g., using past tense in conversation, understanding main ideas in a short reading, or writing complete sentences). I provide guided practice, followed by structured opportunities for students to use the language independently. Lessons wrap up with feedback and strategies for continuing to practice between sessions.
