About Mari
Patience and acceptance are my top priorities as your teacher. It makes me so happy to teach others all about the instrument that I love and my goal is to create a fun learning experience.
I understand that time is money so I'll make specific lesson plans catered to your goals and practice good time management and scheduling so we can make the most of our lessons.
I strive to teach and accommodate all ages, races, gender identities, disabilities, and sexual orientations.
As for my experience, I have been a student of Saint Louis guitarists Alyssa Catlin and John McClellan and recently graduated Oberlin Conservatory of Music with a degree in Classical Guitar Performance under the instruction of Stephen Aron. I have competed and placed second in the University of Louisville Guitar Competition in 2018 in the Youth Division at age 15. Since age 11 I've performed in the masterclasses of renowned guitarists such as Xuefei Yang, Olivier Chassain, Thibaut Garcia, Thomas Viloteau, Stanley Yates, Celil Refik Kaya, Gohar Vardanyan, and Xavier Jara.

I like to meet my students at whatever experience level they are at and make sure I understand their specific learning goals.
I welcome all ages and experience levels:
- complete beginners
- amateur classical guitarists
- jazz and rock guitarists
Depending on your personal goals my lessons can include:
- learning to read treble clef and guitar notation
- assigning exercises, scales, and pieces
- giving critique on how to improve a specific piece with musical phrasing and technique
- posture correction and injury avoidance
- guidance on efficient and effective practicing
- creating a personalized learning plan for you to achieve your guitar goals!
My only requirements are a six-string acoustic/classical guitar and the desire to learn!! :)
