About Sara

I am 20 years old and currently studying Occupational Therapy at Cardiff University. I am an empathetic and supportive person who enjoys helping others achieve their goals. I find teaching especially rewarding and meaningful because it allows me to make a real difference in someone's learning journey. Seeing students grow in confidence is what motivates me most. My background in healthcare has also strengthened my effective communication skills and patience, which I bring into every lesson.

About the lesson

As someone who achieved BBB in A-Level Chemistry, Biology and Maths, I understand the challenges students face - especially in STEM subjects. My teaching approach is supportive, encouraging and tailored to each student's learning style. I use a combination of visual aids and a photographic teaching method, along with memory tips and exam techniques that have worked for me and my students. Typical lessons are 2 hours for A-level students and 1 hour for GCSE students. During our sessions, I focus on building a strong understanding of key concepts, preparing students for exams through active recall and using past papers effectively. I have four months of experience as a private tutor, primarily teaching A-Level Chemistry. I have received positive feedback from students for being patient and clear. I now also offer tutoring for A-level Biology, as well as GCSE Science and Maths. As someone who moved from Hong Kong to the UK five years ago, I understand the difficulties of adapting to a new learning environment and language. That's why I also offer English as a Second Language (ESL) support for students who may need extra help. I achieved a grade 8 in GCSE ESL and an overall band 7 on the IELTS.
