About Katrina
I am a very enthusiastic individual whose primary goal is to foster comfort and confidence in my students. I encourage students to set learning goals for themselves and then we engage in lessons that allow students to make progress with these specific goals. I believe it is important to be collaborative with my students to ensure they are getting exactly what they need out of each session. I really enjoy finding new ways for students to learn and develop their skills which is also why I value collaboration. In regards to my experience, I have been a high school teacher for over 10 years and a tutor (middle school, high school and university) for over 6 years. Most of my tutoring students have been working with me for a number of years. Some began working with me while they were in high school and continued into university.

My lessons are individualized to each student and their personal learning goals. My primary goal is to increase a student's comfort and confidence level in their respective areas of need. I find that if a student feels comfortable with their teacher/tutor then they are more willing to take a chance and learning through trial and error, especially with writing, is essential. I also think it is important for students to be able to look at skills as both an executor and editor. This method really helps students to understand and see the full application of the skill. I have been designing lessons for students from Grade 7 up until 4th Year University in subjects such as English, History, Social Science, Political Science and even Business.
