About Jim
Since my retirement (in 2018) from my career teaching undergraduate and graduate students at university level, I have devoted myself to photography full-time. I love my daily photo shoots, focusing on nature, landscape, and wildlife photography as well as photographing pairs of subjects— insects on flowers, birds on trees, and landscape beneath dramatic clouds, to name my most important genres. Since 2020 my full-time photography has included 4-8 hours a day using Photoshop and particularly in the last two years, Lightroom Classic.

My teaching is dialogic, meaning that the subjects emerge from students as we go along. In Lightroom Classic 2024 I teach enhancing/ denoising, and using masks. I have empathy for beginners. The lessons are for beginners, especially those who have just begun to try editing in Photoshop or Lightroom.
