About Andrew
I'm a student at the University Of Edinburgh studying Maths and Music (joint honours BSc). I have been teaching since the beginning of October 2020 so as of now (Jan 2021) I have taught about 70 hours with 20 different students. Other than that, I've had some experience of teaching through the RAF cadets, in teaching the younger cadets the syllabus content. I am also a sports coach at a school, which involves teaching technique and how to play the game to younger members of the club

I am a first year student, and I offer lessons at GCSE level.
My lesson structure will vary from student to student. Tutoring is very much an experience for the tutee, not the tutor. The basic premise is we will look at what you need help with the most, and I will try and guide you in the right direction to improve your analysis skills.
For me, the most important idea to get across to a pupil is that making mistakes is not a bad thing. Now adays, there's a lot of stigma around making mistakes, we all want to be perfect right off the bat. However, this is unrealistic, so we need to embrace mistakes as a good thing. I like to think of mistakes as a means to getting things right. Another way to think about it is: if we didn't make mistakes, then getting things right wouldn't mean anything

Andrew was a brilliant tutor when he taught me. He was very patient and clear with his explanations and when I mastered the maths, he made sure to stretch me to a suitable level.
