About Akili
Akili is a young, up and coming indie-soul singer-songwriter and actress based out of Durham, North Carolina. Her musical style and lyrical content is said to be relevant to and for the masses. She has been musically influenced by artists like India Arie, Snoh Aalegra and her idol, Prince. She is trained through instructors in North Carolina Central University's vocal jazz program and Berklee College of Music. Akili has been writing and singing her own written work since she was the tender age of eight years old. She is also a self-taught guitarist and has been performing live behind her guitar since she was 14 years old. She is working towards her first Grammy and looking forward to all the pleasant surprises that life has in store!

Akili is a trained vocalist in jazz, pop, r&b, neo-soul and musical theatre. She focuses on the needs of her students and strives to hone their comfort-ability in an immersive way. Akili makes it a point to help her students work on performance anxiety and confidence building. She is currently offering virtual lessons and limited in-person.
