About Diego
Hi, I’m a passionate educator who brings kindness, patience, and a positive growth mindset to everything I do. As a soon-to-be graduate from the University of Toronto’s OISE Master of Teaching program, I am confident in my ability to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences tailored to each student’s unique needs.
Beyond teaching, I’m a big fan of tennis—both playing and watching! The sport has taught me the value of perseverance, strategy, and enjoying the process of growth, all qualities I carry into my teaching. Music is another deep passion of mine. Whether I’m playing an instrument or using music to inspire students, it’s a creative outlet that brings joy and connection to my life and work.
I strive to be a compassionate and understanding teacher, creating a warm environment where students feel supported and encouraged to take risks. By fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere, I help students build confidence and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth.
Teaching is not just my profession—it’s my calling, and I’m committed to helping every learner succeed and thrive.

As a tutor and teacher candidate at the University of Toronto's OISE Master of Teaching program, I bring a thoughtful and research-based approach to education, grounded in the principles and methodologies I have learned during my training. My teaching philosophy centers on creating individualized, student-focused lessons that prioritize inclusivity, cultural understanding, and the unique needs of each learner.
# Teaching Methodology and Techniques
I employ a combination of proven teaching strategies, such as scaffolded instruction, inquiry-based learning, and differentiated teaching methods. I also integrate OISE's guidelines on equity, diversity, and inclusion into my practice, ensuring that each lesson is culturally responsive and sensitive to the student's background and experiences. I use multimodal resources, such as visual aids, interactive activities, and real-world examples, to engage students and cater to various learning styles.
# A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a warm-up activity to activate prior knowledge and build rapport. For ESL students, this might include a vocabulary game or a quick conversation practice. The core of the lesson focuses on the client’s specific goals—whether improving pronunciation, understanding grammar, or enhancing reading comprehension. Lessons conclude with a brief review and practical takeaways, such as homework or strategies to apply learned skills in real-life situations. I also incorporate formative assessments to monitor progress and adapt future lessons.
# What Sets Me Apart
What distinguishes me as a tutor is my ability to personalize lessons to meet individual goals and learning preferences. I take the time to understand each student's strengths, challenges, and aspirations. Additionally, my experience working with diverse learners, including children and adults, allows me to approach teaching with empathy and adaptability. My training at OISE has instilled in me a deep commitment to fostering both academic growth and self-confidence in my students.
# Who the Lessons Are For
I offer tutoring services for ESL learners of all ages, from children in primary grades to adults seeking to improve their English skills for personal or professional reasons. Whether the goal is to master foundational language skills, prepare for standardized tests, or enhance conversational fluency, I design lessons tailored to each client’s unique needs and objectives.
By blending the pedagogical principles of my OISE training with a compassionate, individualized approach, I aim to empower my students to achieve their full potential in English language learning.
