About Clare

I believe passionately in education and am enjoying working with students on their English language learning journey. After a 20-year career in education, I decided to pursue other opportunities in IT and business after gaining an MSc in Computer-based Information Systems. But I always intended to return to teaching, originally taking TEFL courses in 2012 and then completing the Trinity CertTESOL in April 2022. I have a wide range of interests such as art, dance, theatre, cinema and travel and enjoy bringing these subjects into my lessons but I also enjoy teaching the basics of language. I was a diligent classroom teacher and mainly worked with seven to nine-year-olds so was focussed on reading and grammar in language learning. I have excellent inter-personal skills and have an enthusiastic and friendly teaching style.

About the lesson

I am an experienced primary school teacher who has branched into English language teaching. I taught for many years in inner London and Madrid schools, both as a classroom teacher and as a private tutor with ESL learners. I then worked for a business school before working for 15 years at large global financial services company. I am happy to teach any age and any type of English required. For example, for education and exams; for business and other work situations; or for travel and personal interest. I am teaching online using the Trinity CertTESOL methodology and my hours are flexible – I am happy to teach daytime, evenings and weekends. I have been teaching Chinese and Spanish students full-time since May 2022.
