About Nathaniel

I'm Nathaniel (or more commonly known as Nat) and I am a languages student from Birmingham, UK. I am studying German and Italian (BA) at the University of Manchester. From a young age, language learning has always interested me. Since visiting France on a school trip when I was 10, the idea of communicating with people in their mother tongue absolutely fascinated me. I am on a mission to bring language learning into the 21st century. By that, I don't mean using ChatGPT to do it all for you though! I mean using modern and engaging methods to bring back HUMAN connection to language learning. I am a native English speaker, but I speak French at a near-native level. I know what it's like to not be able to speak French - I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Therefore, I know exactly how to explain linguistic concepts in a way that clicks in English, although I am happy to speak entirely in French during sessions if that's something you desire!

About the lesson

I am able to tailor my sessions to each individual. Each lesson will be one or two hours at the discretion of the student. I am able to teach all ages, including GCSE and A-Level. My experience includes: Achieved all A* grades at GCSE and A-Level. Winner of the Warwick School MFL prize in years 10, 11, 12 and 13. Experience in tutoring French to GCSE students at Warwick School's "French Clinic." A work experience placement teaching a year 7 class French for one week, preparing my own activities, games and learning resources. Studying one year of French at the University of Manchester, before deciding to start a new adventure with Italian! My own published translation of French poetry in the journal IL PIETRISCO TRANSLATIONS - STUDENT ISSUE 2 (2025) - A Palimpsest of Change.
