English Language Arts: Students seeking to strengthen foundational literacy skills, including phonics, phonological awareness, early reading fluency, reading comprehension (identifying main ideas, details, inferencing, summarizing), vocabulary expansion, foundational grammar, and early writing skills (sentence structure, paragraph organization).
A Typical Lesson Plan (60 Minutes)
While flexible to your child's specific needs, a standard 60-minute session is structured to maximize learning and engagement:
0-5 minutes: Warm-up & Connection. A friendly chat to build rapport, a quick review of the previous session's key takeaway, and setting a clear objective for today's learning.
5-20 minutes: Concept Introduction & Modeling. I'll explicitly introduce a new concept or strategy, breaking it down and demonstrating how it works with clear examples. This is where I ensure your child has a solid grasp of the fundamentals.
20-50 minutes: Guided & Independent Practice. We'll immediately apply the new learning through interactive exercises, problem-solving, or text analysis. I'll provide support as needed, gradually encouraging independent practice as confidence grows.
50-55 minutes: Review & Consolidation. We'll summarize the key takeaways, address any lingering questions, and briefly discuss how to apply what they've learned.
