About Maddie
I received my BMus. in Music Composition in April of 2024 from the University of Redlands. During my undergraduate studies, I took private voice and composition lessons, performed in the advanced mixed choral ensemble, and sang the role of Gretel in the Conservatory of Music's production of 'Hansel and Gretel', an opera by Englebert Humperdinck. Additional performances include a half-hour long junior recital, performances of Opera excerpts with a full orchestra in the University's Opera Gala, and a Masterclass with Craig Colclough, a professional opera singer and alumnus of the University.
I am pursuing my Masters of Music in Choral Conducting at the University of Redlands and continuing private lessons in voice, conducting, and rehearsal techniques. This semester, I performed in a Masterclass with Jamie and Olga Flores, and am currently preparing to perform the role of Adele in the upcoming production of 'Die Fledermaus' by Johann Strauss II.

Vocal performance and proper technique is not "one-size-fits-all". Every voice is different, so "proper technique" is different for everyone, too! My goal as a voice instructor is to teach singers how to produce the best sound in the healthiest way possible for their instrument.
I work with young voices, from about the ages of 12-18. A typical lesson starts with warmups, preparing the vocal folds to engage in healthy singing, followed by ear training and music theory fundamentals. The purpose of ear-training and basic theory is to teach a singer how to read sheet music on their own, and be able to efficiently and properly prepare their repertoire, even outside of lessons and rehearsals! During the second half of a lesson, we will focus on preparing their repertoire, whatever it may be. If a student is in a theatre production, or a choir, or any other sort of musical commitment, we can work on their music together in lessons so that they may perform it to the best of their ability.
