About Erum
I am a qualified Mathematics and Physics Teacher. I teach Mathematics and Physics at A levels in a highly selective and prestigious Sixth Form school in London. In addition, I take pride in teaching Mathematics and Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) at GCSE Level. I graduated from UCL with a joint Honours in Mathematics and Physics. The sense of achievement and overjoyed feeling when I can help or support an individual through their learning journey is an extraordinary experience, which motivated me to become a teacher professionally. After becoming a mother of two young girls, the passion for learning and knowledge has paved my path to break the cultural and societal barriers and resume my academic education. I want to inspire my girls and women from my community in-particular and generically everyone that if one is honest and persistent in their efforts then no obstacle stays forever in one’s path. I look forward to instilling the love for learning in professional capacity so that my students will be well informed and active members of society in future. University : - University College London - BSc Maths and Physics (Joint Honours) School : Hackney Community College A Levels - Maths [A*] - Further Maths [A*] - Physics [A] Prizes and Scholarships : Watkins Bursary FTS scholar Other Qualifications : I am an FTS Scholar and for past three years spending 8-10 days per year in various Harris academies (predominantly secondary schools) to have a hands-on experience of teachers' responsibilities in a school setting and what does the role involve. I have now secured a place on salaried SCITT route with Harris ITE in one of their academies. I completed my first degree in Biochemistry and Biostatistics.

I have developed an up-to-date and in-depth knowledge, better understanding and stronger than ever appreciation for both Mathematics and Science. I believe both subjects foster the scientific attitude greatly in terms of curiosity, wonder, healthy scepticism, an inquiring mind and critical and analytical evaluation; these have equipped me well with a set of distinguished skills for my professional career. As a subject-specialist teacher, I will have confidence in engaging with students to make the content accessible, spark an interest for the subject and transfer my appreciation of the subject, passion and knowledge to the students.
