About Julie
I stay in close communication with families, keeping them informed of progress and activities they can do at home to reinforce what we worked on in our sessions. I keep to a schedule and inform in plenty of time if we have to reschedule though I am able to be flexible if something comes up to change our plans.

I tend to gamify lessons to make them memorable and applicable to many different subjects. I believe that repetition is necessary for learning but need not be tedious. I include your interests, strengths, and needs when planning and presenting lessons. I use techniques from many different curriculums, especially Whole Brain Teaching; Classical pedagogy including: narration, dictation, cultivating love of learning, contemplation and reflection, project-based learning. Lesson plan schedule: Literacy lesson 5 min Welcome message 5 min Dictation 2 min brain break 15 All about spelling 2 min Brain break 15 min reading mini lesson 2 min brain break 15 min game Lessons are for small groups or individuals in grades Kindergarten to grade four
