About Brian
My first position was as a teacher of English language in the mid '90's. Around that time also, I was a postgraduate student with a position as assistant lecturer at University of Limerick, Ireland. Having completed my Phd in 2011, I took up a position with New York Institute of Technology at their Abu Dhabi campus where I was available to lecture a total of nine courses; 2 academic writing courses, 1 business communications course, 1 speech communication course, and 5 courses in literature (2), philosophy (2), and social sciences (1). The scope of my knowledge and experience means I can offer students insight that is not confined to one discipline, and that is delivered in a supportive, friendly, and flexible manner. My students are always my priority.

My lessons in English Literature are structured around close reading of texts placed within the broader thematic interests they articulate.
For Junior and Leaving Cert students in Ireland (2nd level), this also means answering past exam questions in detail.
My lessons usually include academic writing where we break the composition of a text down into its component parts, and explore each with detailed examples relating to style, clarity, unity, and overall structure.
For 3rd level students, I offer guidance in writing dissertations and topic discussion at length.
