About Josh
Struggling with GCSE or A-Level English? Whether you're aiming to improve your confidence, boost your grades, or even prepare for Oxford applications, I'll create personalised lessons that make difficult texts easier to understand and essays much stronger. My name is Joshua and I am a 22-year-old English Graduate from the University of Oxford. I am currently studying a master's in creative writing at the University of Montana under the Truman Capote Scholarship. By tailoring every lesson to your individual goals and learning style, I aim to offer a supportive, student-focused approach to learning.

I teach GCSE and A-Level English Language and English Literature, helping students build confidence, deepen their understanding of texts, and develop the analytical and writing skills. Following our initial (and free!) first lesson, I will work to create a lesson plan that is engaging and personalised. Depending on the needs of you and your exam board, we might work though close reading of literary texts, develop lesson plans together, or make our way though exam-style questions. But my aim is not only to improve grades; I hope over the course of our lessons, students will become more confident readers, writers, and critical thinkers. In addition, I offer Oxbridge admissions preparation, drawing on my own experience of successfully applying to Oxford, as well as my experience applying for postgraduate study and securing competitive scholarship funding.
