About Jack
Hi, I'm Jack. I grew up in Cornwall and then moved to Oxford University to study an MChem (Integrated Masters Degree) in Chemistry.
In terms of my knowledge and credentials I achieved all A* in my A levels (Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics) and have passed the undergraduate component of my degree with a 1st.
Although this might make seem like everything has come easy to me. To get these qualifications I have had to work incredibly hard and as a dyslexic student I have often needed to come up with new and unique strategies to succeed. This means that I still remember the feeling of knowing your own potential but not necessarily seeing a route to translate it onto paper.
This is the reason why I became a tutor, I feel I now have a lot of knowledge and learning techniques that will be incredibly helpful for students of all abilities and I hope you will find them helpful too!

A typical lesson will be between 40 minutes and an hour. The material being covered will vary depending on the needs of the student but can include: implementing learning strategies to help revise difficult concepts; working through exam technique to help break down and extract key information from questions; time management; and, reteaching or explaining material which might have been missed during school / sixth form lessons.
I hope to teach people ranging from 15 - 18 (GCSE and A levels) and as a high performing dyslexic I both understand the struggles of the whole learning and examination process, whilst also have experience of implementing long term effective strategies to succeed within the process.
Additionally, if the student feels it will be helpful, I especially pride myself in my ability to explain the specific real world reason for learning concepts and techniques in STEM as I fear too often the justification for leaning is only to pass a final exam.
