About Lena
My name is Lena, I originally come from Poland but have been living in the UK for the past 4 years. I hold degrees from the University of Oxford (BA History) and the Courtauld Institute of Art (MA History of Art).
Since March 2021 I have been working as a researcher for a variety of projects. My past employers include: Merton College, Oxford and The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH).
In my own projects, I research medieval art - I have a vast knowledge of symbols, iconography and theology that informed culture in that period. My niche are demons, angels, and monsters - I am always happy to terrify people with some wicked products of 14th-century imagination. My alternative research interest is critical theory and modern intellectual history. If you would like, I am happy to explore contemporary social issues with my students and how art responds to them (for instance, through feminism, black liberation, LGBTQ+ liberation, postcolonialism, and many many more).

Hello, hello.
I am an Oxford and Courtauld graduate, who quite literally lives and breathes art. However, up to the university level I was entirely self-taught. This means I not only understand the nuances of the application process, but also managed to perfect a style of learning that fuses intellectual rigour with sheer enthusiasm. The effectiveness of my approach has been proven by numerous scholarships and prizes that I have been awarded.
I would like to share my knowledge and passion in a way that prioritises individual connection and nurtures the zest for critical thinking. I can work with my students towards a definite goal - be it exams or applications. Equally, I am prepared to spend time on broadening their creative horizons, as well as sparking curiosity about culture in general.
